History of Goodar
Born around 1872, little is known about Goodar. The husband of Raimoon (the great grandfather of Rajendra and grandmother of Roopnarine). Raimoon was a very spiritual man who was commonly referred to as “Goodar Sadhu”. A sadhu is a religious ascetic, mendicant or any holy person in Hinduism who has renounced the worldly life. Goodar came to Trinidad and Tobago from an unknown part of Uttar Pradesh, as an indentured labourer around 1882 and settled in Churkoo Village Princes Town. Little is known of him, and he died around 1918. Goodar was the paternal great-grandfather of Rajendra Ramlogan, the founder of Traum House Lodge.
