Angostura Museum and Barcant Butterfly Collection

A visit to the outskirts of Port of Spain to the Angostura Museum and Barcant Butterfly Collection is a must.  The Barcant Butterfly Collection lists approximately 5000 specimens of butterflies from all over the world, including over 600 species from Trinidad and Tobago. Encased in wood and glass frames specifically created to preserve the specimens, this remains a rare and unique collection.  The Angostura Museum documents the history of the Siegert family, where visitors can learn more about the almost 200 years of history of this iconic company and, of course, about the world-famous Angostura Bitters.  Of course, the Angostura Art Gallery is a must.  The visit also includes a tour of the only rum distillery on the island and its state-of-the-art bottling plant, where visitors can sample and purchase award-winning and internationally acclaimed rums. The Angostura Museum and Barcant Butterfly Collection is located approximately 12 kilometres from Traum House Lodge.
