About Us

The name Traum House is derived from the word “traum” or dream in the Germanic language.  Legend has it that a Jewish medical doctor fled the impending Nazi cleansing of Jewish people just before World War II.  He arrived in England with very little possessions and was sent to the British colony of Trinidad and Tobago to serve during the war efforts.  At the end of World War II, he petitioned for land to build his “dream” home.  Around 25 years later, he sold his home to provide for the medical training of his son in England.  In turn, the property was sold to the founder of Traum House Lodge in 2007.  True to the meaning of its name, Traum House is an oasis nestled in sleepy St. Augustine, the perfect respite for any traveller.
